Winter Berglertafel Mountaineers´ Banquet with Tamara Lunger

In 2019, the legendary summer’s Berglertafel Mountaineers’ Banquet in Tires al Catinaccio/Tiers am Rosengarten will also be featuring on the winter events’ program. The day commences with a snowshoe test session for beginners and experts during a snowshoe walk through the untouched, rustic winter countryside. At the “Flying Buffet” the guests have the possibiliti to exchange opinions over a bowl of warming soup or a mulled wine. Like its summer counterpart, the Berglertafel Flying Buffet will be serving classic dishes with a creative twist in a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach, as participants will discover when the day draws to a close with a view over the famed Alpenglow of Catinaccio at sunset. The enthusiastic mountain climber Tamara Lunger (mountain climber from South Tyrol, in 2014 she was the second Italian woman to reach the K2) accompanies you the whole day and talks about her life and expeditions.

Picnicking at the foot of the Catinaccio/Rosengarten. At the Bergler Harass picnic in Tires al Catinaccio/Tiers am Rosengarten, nature lovers can savour a range of hearty farmers’ fare with a view over the legendary Dolomites. A wooden crate will serve as a picnic basket, jam-packed with traditional products from Tires, including sheep’s cheese, venison salami, Tires bread, butter, milk, raspberry juice and doughnuts. Musical entertainment will round off this sociable afternoon to perfection.

The picnic will be taking place on June 2nd 2018 at the Wuhnleger, an Alpine meadow with a small lake whose waters reflect the Catinaccio.

Skymarathon

The “Sky Marathon Rosengarten Schlern” is a 45 km marathon run in alpine terrain with 2.980 m of up hill. There is also a shorter course of 36 km, with 1.908 m of up hill. The start is in Tiers – Saint Cyprian at 1.100 m. The marathon goes around the Rosengarten massive; it reaches the Schlern plateau and the Tschafon Mountain and ends back in Tiers.

The alpine pasture “Proa” only five minutes from the hotel, provides an idyllic place for the yearly culinary highlight in Tiers am Rosengarten. Restaurant owners from Tiers and the local Tourism Association organise a 5-course menu amidst unspoiled nature with a view of the reign of King Laurin.

Schwoagen Festival

The associations of Tiers offer different culinary delights in several alpine huts, so-called “Schwoagen”, on the Doss and Traun meadows below Rosengarten. On the hike from hut to hut, you’ll enjoy a few wonderful moments and the splendid surrounding nature.

The King Laurin Hut Hike takes place at Karerpass, at the foot of Rosengarten. The kingdom of King Laurin provides the beautiful scenery for the round hike. At the different alpine huts, gourmets are spoiled with food, drinks and live music.
